about
With “Kung Agne,” Lombolo aims to give a modern perspective to the traditionally heroic legendary Swedish king Agne, whose huge burial mound lies close to the band's childhood homes in Stockholm. According to the legend, Agne sails to Finland with his army and conquers it, killing the Finnish king in single combat. Rietas’ Raisa Ylinampa beautifully sings the part of Skjalf, the daughter of the Finnish king. Skjalf kills Agne after he kidnaps her and forces her to marry him. With a driving melodic death metal foundation, four vocalists and a plethora of folk instruments Kung Agne is a folk metal anthem for justice for women.

LYRICS (English below):
[Refräng]
Över havet han far
Mot de tusen sjöarnas land
Han är en mäktig kraftkarl
Och Agne är hans namn
[Vers 1]
Asars blod i ådrorna
Pressar männen vid årorna
Svearna stiger iland
Byarna sättes i brand
Froste, finnarnas hövding
Leder kampen mot svearnas Skylfing
[Froste, den finske hövdingen:]
Vår mark ni intagit
Och stulit vårt guld
Så stammarna jag samlar
För att stoppa er kung
[Refräng]
Över havet han far
Mot de tusen sjöarnas land
Han är en mäktig kraftkarl
Och Agne är hans namn
Hundratals i hans här
Hundratals i hans här
Som följer honom i strid
Ta det du är värd, och fly din väg
När du hör hans härskri
ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
[Intro, narrator]
Over the sea, he sails
Towards the land of the thousand lakes
He is a mighty man
And Agne is his name
[Verse, narrator]
The blood of the Aesir flows in his veins
He pushes his men at the oars
The Swedes go ashore
Setting fire to the villages
Froste, the chieftain of the Finns
Lead the fight against the Swedes’ Skylfing
[Pre-chorus, Froste:]
Our land you conquered
And our gold you’ve stolen
So I unite the clans
To stop your king
[Chorus, narrator]
Over the sea, he sails
Towards the land of the thousand lakes
He is a mighty man
And Agne is his name
Hundreds fight in his army
They follow him into battle
Raise your sword and take what you’re worth
Now hear our battle cry
[Verse, narrator]
Resistance is futile
When blood is colouring the fields
Froste is dead, his army beaten
After the battle, Svea stands victorious
The daughter of the chieftain
Agne takes home to be his wife
[Chorus, narrator]
[Bridge, Skjalf:]
My father you have killed, my country you have reaped
Being your wife is a punishment from Hel
You kidnapped me, I will have my revenge
Hang you high until you lose your life
[Chorus, narrator]
Over the sea, he sailed
Towards the land of the thousand lakes
He is a terrible man
And Agne is his name
Hundreds fight in his army
They follow him into battle
Take what you are worth and run for your life
When you hear his battle cry
